New unsubscribe function to counter false spam complaints
Inxmail customers can now offer their
newsletter recipients a new unsubscribe procedure. Instead of having to
look for the unsubscribe link in the newsletter, recipients can also
manage their subscription directly in the user interface of the Windows
Live Hotmail and, more recently, Google Mail webmail programs. Inxmail Pty Ltd is thereby supporting the standardisation of webmail programs and
protecting marketers from false spam complaints.Inxmail supports unsubscribe procedure of Windows Live Hotmail and Google MailSydney, Australia, 18 September 2009 –
Windows Live Hotmail and, more recently, Google Mail now have a central
unsubscribe function. It allows recipients to cancel their
subscriptions in the user interface of the webmail program, without
having to search for the unsubscribe link within the newsletter.
Inxmail Pty Ltd is now supporting its customers in offering this
user-friendly unsubscribe procedure for their own newsletters – as a
supplement to the conventional unsubscribe link.
The objective
of the webmail programs and of Inxmail Pty Ltd is to create a standard
procedure that allows recipients to cancel a subscription conveniently
and directly. The unsubscribe links are currently positioned at very
different places within the newsletter.
The new unsubscribe
procedure offers advantages not only for the recipient, but also for
the marketer. Practice has shown that many recipients prefer to use the
“Mark as spam/Report spam” function if they wish to cancel their
subscription. The result is that the mailer’s good reputation with the
Internet service providers is jeopardised, and so too is deliverability
in the long term. The new unsubscribe procedure decreases these false
spam complaints and therefore ensures deliverability of future
campaigns.
The new unsubscribe procedure are already being used in the Inxmail newsletter.
